Chances are if you’re using a chemical sunblock you’ll see ingredients like oxybenzone, avobenzone, octisalate, homosalate, and octinoxate. I know, it’s a mouth full! 

These chemicals are known to be endocrine disrupters, estrogenic and may interfere with thyroid and other hormone processes in the body. 

The EWG (environmental working group) warns against using oxybenzone, especially on children or pregnant/breastfeeding women. Our motto at Old City Apothecary is if you can’t pronounce it or eat it, DON’T put it on your skin!
